Following the announcement made on 13 October 2023 that the procurement process for Malta’s waste-to-energy facility had reached its final stage, with a recommended bidder selected, WasteServ can confirm that the standstill period has been broken by Hitachi-Zosen Inova AG - Terna S.A., who has filed an appeal. Similar to the recommended bidder, Hitachi-Zosen Inova AG-Terna S.A. submitted a compliant bid amounting to €781,512,463, compared to €599,659,900 from the recommended bidder.  

The appeal process will now be managed by the Public Contracts Review Board in accordance with Subsidiary Legislation 601.03.
